Sakae Naa (Combretum quadrangulare) is a member of the Combretaceae family. It typically grows along riverbanks and open woodlands across Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Peninsular Malaysia. The plant is recognizable by its opposite leaves and distinctly quadrangular young twigs. In local traditions, parts of the plant have been studied and used in herbal preparations.
Leaves are simple, opposite, and elliptic; young branches are characteristically four‑angled. Small greenish‑white flowers form on slender racemes, followed by winged fruits. Traditional knowledge in parts of Southeast Asia reports use of seeds, leaves, and bark in decoctions and infusions.
